digicam.coza Stats

Clicking through my Thunderbird folders that collect filtered, low priority messages (which I check on an irregular basis), I discovered the following: since the beginning of last month I’ve received 350 Account Activation requests via digicam.coza. All of them from spammers. This after deleting over 1000 spam … view full post

Rocking The Daisies review

There were thorns instead of daisies, but it definately rocked! I spent this past weekend camping out at the inaugural Rocking The Daisies Haystacks music festival on the West Coast, 75km outside Cape Town.

There was everything I’ve come to expect from a well organized music fest. Great friends, crowds, food. Unpredictable weather (rain never killed anyone though … view full post

Africa from the air

Acclaimed landscape photographer Michael Poliza (nice site boys) set off this week on his epic Heli-Africa expedition, which will see him travelling from Hamburg (his home town), to Cape Town (city of residence), by helicopter – photographing the earth from the air as he goes. Via travel.iafrica.com:

Flickr Darkr

A few months ago I had the idea to create a user script for Greasemonkey that would basically skin Flickr with a darker theme, because I find viewing photography much more attractive against a dark background.

So I played around a bit (using the EditCSS Firefox extension). It didn’t quite … view full post

Namibian thoughts

Namibia was awesome and pretty much everything I was expecting. We covered 6000kms 7000kms – on mostly dirt roads – in just under 3 weeks (only one flat tyre). Although all the driving tired me out a little towards the end, we got to see and experience a great amount of our beautiful neighbour – and the first … view full post

Off to Namibia

Plans have come together sooner than I was anticipating, and so I’m off to our magnificent neighbour Namibia on the 16th for a three week camping roadtrip. As it turns out, now is the best time of the year to visit. I’ve been reading the recently published Footprint Namibia guide which contains a wealth … view full post

Do you chimp?

Do you chimp? Via Wikipedia:

Chimping is a term used in digital photography (especially when using a digital single-lens reflex camera or DSLR) to describe the habit of checking every photo on the on-camera display (LCD) immediately after capture.

Hah! Check out the Flickr tag for people chimping.

I’ve discovered Aussie singer-songwriter Ben Lee thanks to … view full post

My Sony digicam is fubar

I hadn’t used my Sony digicam since mid-February, and today at the World of Birds in Hout Bay, discovered that it had decided to go all fubar on me. I did manage to get the below shot inbetween it working for a minute or two before going mental again, though…. view full post

Photos of the moon

What is it with photos of the moon? I’ve taken a few myself, but only to test a lens or experiment with taking a photo through binoculars and silly things like that. I guess it’s just one of those obligatory shots, like Pisa pushers – a Flickr group dedicated to pictures of tourists “pushing” the Leaning Tower. Score zero … view full post
