A final post
Seeing as it’s now over a year since my last post, I guess it’s safe to say that I no longer have any interest in updating this blog.
It’s an enjoyable trip, looking back…
I can’t say for sure when I started blogging. Or, blogging as we now know it, at least. The first post here is circa April 2002, when … view full post
Favourite South African logos: Part 3
This post is the third installment in a series, featuring my favourite South African logos. See Part 1 and Part 2. Here are the next 3:

Sasol
I fell in love with the Sasol logo the moment I first saw it, which if I remember correctly was in an animated format online. It’s almost hypnotic, I can stare at it … view full post
Favourite South African logos: Part 1
This post has been a while coming. I was initially planning to feature about 10 of my favourite South African logos in a single post, but while compiling the list I decided to rather split the post and dedicate more time to each logo.
I’ve mostly sourced information online, which I’ve found difficult for some, so if you have anything to … view full post
Reebok Reebrand

Mugg & Bean rebrand
It seems to me like all the rebrands these days are surrounded by controversy and public criticism. Last November it was Pick n Pay, and last month it was Mortgage SA’s turn when they rebranded as ooba.
I caught a glimpse of the new Mugg & Bean logo on tv … view full post
Pick n Pay revisited
After clicking through to Brand New this morning I found that they’d covered last month’s Pick n Pay rebrand. Christian Palino writes: ‘Inspired by ick n ay’. Read through all of the 33 comments for some very insightful opinions by impartial industry experts.
PnP’s transformation last month generated huge interest and sparked widespread debate across the design and … view full post
Winning poster announced for 2010 FIFA World Cup
An update to one of my previous posts: the South African public have voted, and the official 2010 FIFA World Cup poster was announced on the weekend. The winning poster by Switch Design (also responsible for the 2010 logo) depicts the African continent forming a man’s profile … view full post
Pick ‘n Pay rebrand
Another rebrand was launched to the press this morning, and this time it’s the turn of one of South Africa’s oldest, most recognizable and best loved brands: Pick ‘n Pay.
I picked this up via BizCommunity who were the first to break the story as it was happening! Via … view full post
Why Bafana Bafana have to rebrand for 2010
I found the below extract from an article posted on BizCommunity quite interesting. Why Bafana Bafana have to rebrand for 2010:
Bafana Bafana, meaning Boys, Boys, was coined by three Sowetan sports reporters in 1992, shortly after the readmission of South Africa to world football. According to Neil Tovey, captain of the winning 1996 Africa Cup of Nations team,
