Did the upgrade to WP 2.6.1 today.

No problems whatsoever. I’ve only got about 70 posts and 300 comments, and two core mods, so it was a simple upgrade.

Procedure was:
1. Backup main database,
2. restore to test system,
3. copy new wordpress files to test system,
4. apply core-mods on test system,
5. run …/wp-admin/upgrade.php to update DB on test system,
6. UAT on test system
7. copy updated wordpress to production system as ‘blog_update’,
8. renamed current ‘blog’ directory to ‘blog_old’,
9. renamed ‘blog_update’ to ‘blog’,
10. run …/wp-admin/upgrade.php to update DB on production system,
11. UAT on production system

And voila.

One of the easiest upgrades I’ve ever done. I’m quite impressed.

If you're running a default install then you shouldn't have a problem. I'd give it a go, but just make sure you have a backup of everything first.
