More interesting stats

Since the beginning of this year, 20% of visitors arriving at my site via search engines are finding "borat quotes" - 21 313 visits, to be precise, which excludes variations of the phrase ("quotes from borat", "borat expressions", etc). Google has me ranked second for the search phrase, for content I added over 2 years ago.My daily traffic has steadily increased since the end of October, to the point at which it's now triple what it was a month ago. This coincides with the movie's release dates.

Here is an experiment – even though I know you’re not into the whole “advertising” thing. Sign up for Google Adsense and stick a single square box on that borat quotes page only. You won’t be bothering friends and repeat visitors… and you may just be suprised at the results!

Well moman, I took your advice and I’ve added a banner so let’s see what happens, although I have little experience of AdSense so I dunno, it might not even be working.

Duke: hah I like the way you think!

D- checked the Adsense (being the ad corporate whore I am) and it’s working fine. Wouldn’t get your hopes up too much, as Google has picked up ‘quotes’ and is now serving insurance ads. lol. At 10c/click US, and a min payout of $100 it could take a while. Hopefully the bot will recategorise the page in a couple days and serve something more relevant.

Squirrel.. man nice to hear from you! I received a LinkedIn update a while ago listing your new position at Pangora, sounded very impressive. ;)

My previous Adsense experience stems from when I salvaged one of my first websites (1996, no comment) which is well ranked: first result here. I decorated it full of ads and haven’t touched it since – it was more a trial exercise than anything.
