Awwsome informative blog but the best way i know to boost your brand exposure, advertising and marketing, Thats perfect for trade shows / expo's / lobbies / point-of-sales / exhibitions / conferences by the help of innovative banner stand display and large format printing service because links are not that visible as compare to banner ads. You can get more information on this subject at http://www.vividads.com.au

to coda:

Okay, you are right. But you have to use CAPTCHA in your blog to prevent spammers. Sorry. But your site's design is very smart ;)

Are people still using banner ads?? Someone told me recently that Webmail shows targeted "postage stamp" ads on their site with a click-through rate of around 6%. That seems very high to me, seeing as they will display 100 000 impressions. thats 6000 visitors. Also, their site is classic over-kill, ads compete for attention along the bottom of the page - click here -- *flash* flash* click me!! no, over here!!.

Back to the topic, I don't think blogging is targeted by advertises for the following reason... blogs tap into niche markets but the percentage of people with internet access in SA is a niche itself - so it's not about reaching Rugby Fans (unless selling rugby stuff) as much as it reaching people with buying power (LSM 6?) - This said, it is easier to advertise through a large portal (take outsurance ads on M-WEB) then to go the blog route.

I think that as a commercial blog you have to have advertising principles and stick to them. You're right - if you are going to offer sponsorship on your blog - its probably more effective to select the kinds of message you carry.

Don't just carry advertising for advertising revenues sake - take on selective brands that are relevant to your readers and the association with your blog will benefit the advertiser at the same time.
We've taken on commercial campaigns from brands that we're proud to be associated with.

It's difficult ... I think it all depends on the individual. I hate advertising banners on sites and I always think the space could be used much better - take media24.com - it's just TOO much. AKA over-kill.

In the same breath... it's different when the design caters for advertising like c.net and locally jetStreaker and CherryFlava... when done tastefully (it doesnt compete for attention with the content/ clash with the design of the site) i think it's ok.
