Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then what do you call this?

Thanks to Dave for the link.

UPDATE [09/08]: This arrived in my inbox a short while ago via luis@luisgarcia.com:

I took the site down and will have my redesign up this weekend (hopefully). There's no chance of me changing the green and black but all other aspects will be different. Make sure to tell all my fans and let them know I enjoyed the emails, it's been a fun one.

And there you have it. What a schmuck.

And also... I now own the Google search term onbeskof. Hah!

Hmmm, I think I’d be more flattered if he referenced me for ripping off my design, or at least gave me a backlink!

The cheek.

you have no-one to blame but yourself for making such a nice design… no, seriously, i think that’s pretty low, especially because his content is nowhere as good as yours…

i don’t suppose you have submitted this design to the internets somewhere for people to download and use as they please?

Rip, but take it as a compliment. And D, a redesign wouldn’t hurt either ;)

I find it hilarious too, especially how he even ripped my copy!

If he is hotlinking your imagery, you can always do what one another designer did (he served up gay porn if your referrer was the site that was hotlinking). Eventually the guy got the drift when he got complaints of NSFW imagery. Even a picture of Georgie Bush would be amusing too :P

Wow, so I opened up the link from my RSS reader in an empty tab and forgot about it. I came back to it about 2 hours later to read, and I’m happily feeling like I’m reading the coda, when in fact I’m not…

Eish.

Hehe, dig the green header image. The dude really *wants* to be you, clearly.

I agree with Jacques, just a pity he doesn’t seem to be hotlinking…

How to know when you sh*t hot: someone rips not only your design inch by inch, but copies your copy and just changes personal info ;) I’m suprised he put his own name and country… LOL!

The design is amazing – have you thought of releasing it to the public?
Too bad people can’t keep their hands to themselves and use it as inspiration rather than having to copy it so blatently.

What a wannabe… btw. with a surname of Garcia I think we can class him as a wannabe Texan as well… although some with his namesake claim Texas was stolen… :-)

Check This…

Notice the nearly identical format? (Myspace formats all its user details like so. He even uses the exact same wording….

How some people lack decency. Here is a site we send rip-off artists’ links when they copy us, its quite a nice place to visit too…

Great site by the way.

Interesting site, had no idea it existed until I searched for “gay porn” on Google. Much talk about http://www.fpb.gov.za starting to “police” internet sites for pornography that involves children and how to stop it. I think they have bitten off a bit more than they can cope with.

If anyone has, and this isn’t SPAM, any LPs you want converted to CD, have a look at my website. Retrenched 5 years ago because of SA’s racist, genderist, etc., policies about white men over 40, so I have to do something…
