Post 4am mixed bag

I'm currently listening to (yet another) Aussie singer Sia's 'Breathe Me' on repeat. It features in that tv ad of a day in a guy's life across a split-screen parallel universe. The ad is for some unknown investment company which is all I can recall, so can't be very effective if the soundtrack overpowers their message. If you haven't seen the ad then maybe you've heard it on Six Feet Under, Lost, Prison Break, the list goes on. Her unmistakable voice also features on Zero 7's last 3 albums. It's a beautiful track...

After three years fronting Crisp, Sia packed her bags and headed off with an open ended ticket on a round the World trip. After enjoying colourful times in some unusual places, she agreed to meet up in London with the man she describes as her 'first true love'. A week before she arrived, he was run down and killed by a black cab on Kensington High.

...but deeply painful.

Strangely enough, I googled for and instantly recognized the music video (watch it here), although I can't remember where I first saw it, but I know it blew me away. 2500 polaroids!

I discovered the song during an ad break while watching Divorcing Jack, a black romantic comedy based in Belfast. One of those movies that while you're still watching, can't help wondering if everyone's told you to watch it but you just never did. It's just short of 2 hours long and I missed a big chunk when it started hailing outside (uncommon in Cape Town), but not enough to spoil the plot and I caught the gist. If I were still in London I'd have ordered it on Amazon by now.

Was wondering about the music used in that ad too. The advert is for Stanlib.

Thx for the link to Sia’s tune. I have seen this a million times in the movie theaters here in the US.

Big smooch,

Psst. Have you heard of HEM. Liberty Mutual did a great ad with their tune. If you like Sia, I think ya might like HEM … Half Acre … cool tune. ; )
