Identical endeavours
I'm posting this via a Bluetooth/GPRS connection to my cellphone, although my service was suspended yesterday because I exceeded my call limit. Vodacom, my service provider, place a mandatory 3 month limit on new contracts for whatever reason. As Murphy would have it, my 3 months ends on Tuesday, but I exceeded the limit by using my phone to access the net as I am now... which begs the question - am I being billed for the data I'm currently downloading? I guess I'll find out.
I just read the following words on a portfolio page and thought I'd share them; I'd love to hear your opinion.
Painting, music composition, poetry, web design, sculpture, and writing are, at their heart, identical endeavours. Only the medium differs. They all succeed and fail for the same reasons.

I fully agree with everything, just trying to think what exactly that last sentence means… Anyone have any ideas of what some of those reasons could be?
Those reasons are likely hard to define because the statement is such an overgeneralized mental stereotype. I believe that where one might fail the other might succeed (form vs function, design vs art, etc.), and although they definately share a thread of comparison I don’t see the value in that when so many factors are at play.
Very true… I can’t say I agree at all with that last sentence – it’s like the epitome of overgeneralization.
Getting back to VodaCom and GPRS – what do you mean by call limit… did u actually subscribe to a MyMEG bundle?
I recently upgraded to a Motorola V3x… and it has the best software in terms of usability (in my opinion) which allows one to connect the phone via mini usb to the PC and surf using 3G/ or GPRS > but get this… the phone does not like Cell C numbers… cant send/ receive or call anything 084. useless info – yes… but weird!
Vodacom place a mandatory call limit on all new contracts for the first 3 months, mine is R800. I guess to establish if you’ve chosen the appropriate contract or not? I don’t really get it.
RE the Vodacom call limit, more likely so that they don’t get possible fraudsters running up phone bills worth thousands of Rands.
Yeah, i think that makes sense WA.
