News.co.za goes live
News.co.za serves up the latest news from selected sources across the web.
It's something Brian and I have been working on for quite a while now (I added it to my portfolio a year ago, in fact), and it went live this morning. The news content is compiled using RSS feeds from various sources across the web, which can be customized to suit your individual taste. We're planning a couple of other features, but for now please take it for a spin, and leave your feedback in a comment.

Looks good, but…
Having a .co.za domain, I was expecting news relative first and foremost to South Africa – the current headlines seem quite British-focused, and the only source seems to be the BBC.
Nice job, I like the page layout – would be wonderfull of you could choose more than one option for international news.
Would like to see more ZA news options
I see Matt’s already picked it up – the footer’s not clearing in IE7, but that could be an IE7 bug as well :-)
Otherwise, very nicely done!
Good job, forget about IE7. I’ve seen many bugs, they said they keep up with standards though. Lets wait for the next release!
I am really impressed, Coda. I love the design, just so simple and clean which is devilishly hard for such an information rich site.
What I would like to see though is the ability to merge sources by topic. So if I wanted Health news from the beeb and IOL then it could be done. It isn’t the easiest feature to tackle but certainly a worthwhile one.
Congrats on the project though.
Great work Damien!
Awesome stuff dude!
warrenski, you need personalise the page. It defaults on bbc news for most of the sections… but you’re probably meaning it should probably default on SA news sources? I think so too!
btw, nice work damien!
Thanks for the feedback everyone, much appreciated!
Re: IE7 bug – I’ll wait until IE7 is out of beta to test, no point bothering yet.
Default feeds: we’re going to change them from being primarily BBC to a majority of local feeds.
Merging multiple sources per topic is a toughie since article duplication may likely occur, so until we develop or find an algorithm to accomplish this it will have to remain the way it is. It’s definately a feature we’ll be adding.
As we mention on the about page, if you have any SA feeds that you’d like added please let us know. Thanks again!
I can’t access it at all – “The server you are attempting to access has refused the connection with the gateway.”
Loving it dude. Being UK based means that your BBC defaults are all good for me. Will look forward to seeing a bigger variety of feeds to choose from.

Nice job with the site. I am using IE7 Beta 2 preview and the layout is overlapping(top stories and the section below that). I am not sure if this is an IE7 Problem or not
