I moved into a new apartment today
I moved into a new apartment today. The only furniture I have is inflatable, the only cutlery I have is a plastic fork and chopsticks (thanks to tonight's take-away), I have a fridge magnet but no fridge, and I'm connected to the web via a bluetooth connection to my cell (new number on my contact page) which is dialed up via GPRS. I'm writing this blog sitting on a box containing all my outdated college manuals.
It's been a little over a month since I returned to South Africa, having spent most of that time in Still Bay - only coming through to Cape Town for a week at a time to flat hunt. I hadn't really thought about London until yesterday, excluding the occasional e-mail. If feels so distant, almost as if I put my life here on hold, and coming back I've just continued where I left off. In some ways I have; in the back of my mind I always knew I was only going to spend 2 years in the UK. And then looking around me now, in some ways I haven't. A great start to the new year so far, though.
As some of you that frequent this blog may know, I've spent the past 6 months, on and mostly off, working on a pet project. Having mentioned it once or twice, I've mostly keep it under wraps. It will remain that way for the next 6 months at least. I don't want to hype it up (yet), especially since the idea has evolved so much since I first started that it wouldn't make sense to. I started off calling it a .com startup, which it isn't. And it's changed names countless times, although now the name is finalised and a sexy logo is slowly surfacing. I'm really confident about the direction it's taken and I can't wait to get it launched - until then, I'm doing what I love. Inbetween a few contract jobs, this baby will consume me. An unhealthy variety of late mornings lie ahead.
So I guess it's official then... Alanis Morissette has announced the end of her music career with her cover of Seal's 'Crazy', one of my all-time favourites. If you've heard it, you'll agree.

Hey Dude,
Not sure what would be worse, telling everyone what the “project” is and hyping it up or doing what you’re doing now, keeping it a secret. It’s so god damn frustrating having to wait. I think it come down to the fact that you really do some fantastic work and if your past projects are any indication of what is to come, I’m sure none of us will be disappointed.
Later Yo!!!
Yeah – ditto on Vaughans’ comment!
Yo D, we arrived in CT today. Also living in a empty flat. Will give you a shout later.
Damien, this being the age of Web 2.0 you have to give us a peak…you know, release early and release often. Show us the Alpha ;)
cool handy number, yo!
Can’t agree more about Alanis’s cover of Crazy…. Loved it from the first time I saw it (was on tv…) – now I have it on repeat in my car :-) Sad about her ending her music career, didn’t even know that until I read it here. Damn.
Hey Michelle – sorry, that was irony… I hate it ;)
