Banksy Holiday Snaps
The Israeli government is building a wall surrounding the occupied Palestinian territories. It stands three times the height of the Berlin wall and will eventually run for over 700km - the distance from London to Zurich.
The wall is illegal under international law and essentially turns Palestine into the world's largest open prison.
It also makes it the ultimate activity holiday destination for graffiti writers.
More on the graffiti via the BBC: 'Art prankster sprays Israeli wall' and the Guardian: 'Banksy at the West Bank barrier'. More on the wall via Wikipedia: Israeli West Bank barrier. And more photos via PBase, by Israeli photojournalist Eyal Dor-Ofer.

Aaaah…the wall….aka the Apartheid Wall as activist’s call it. More info at http://stopthewall.org
P.S. Those stat’s don’t begin to describe the size of it. I’ve seen pictures of people next to the wall…it’s huge
Sadly, many swayed by media, completely misunderstand or dont get it at all, the enormity of the problem posed to Israel by terrorism. The wall is an attempt to stop this. As the Palestinians have no intention of fulfilling their side of security or preventing cross-border terrorism, in fact it is encouraged in many ways, then what are Israel to do in the face of this? When curfews on towns are lifted then usually within a few days a bomber comes out of the same town and blows up innoncet people causing another round of incursions and curfews.International pressure is on Israel to concede on eveything but the same pressure is not applied to the Palestinians. A different, less expectation is placed on them and without any attempt to comply, the world is still silent. Having lived there for 8 years, I realise there is no easy solution and perhaps the wall is not a good idea, but I do feel most Israelis are longing for peace whereas much of the message the other way, through education, the media, international naivete all gives a different message. Go bite my head off, but I have made a point of trting to understand the issues at hand, historically and politically and it is not something that can be boiled down to trite comments, much of which can be observed on any and mostly pro-palestinina outlet.
Aaah Orlan, but you forget that the Wall doesn’t stop the most brutal terrorism. Israeli Apache Helicopters and F-16 fly right over it to bomb residential areas….
Wow, Orlan, relax. The wall, not a good idea.
Coda, ~:-p
I wonder if David Hasslehoff will sing from the top of this wall when they break it down one day.

I was having a conversation with an Israeli a week ago in a bar close to my home that was borderline idiotic. And this guy, i think he was perhaps 25 or so was trying to convince me that the wall was justified. I mean, he made a point by saying it was ez for us foreigners to judge them because we weren’t there and all, and not having witnessed what he had. But ok haven’t they learnt nothing from the Berlin wall? By the end he was uttering so much nonsense i just couldn’t bear listening to him. It’s like he just wouldn’t even listen to what i was saying; i tried reasoning with him in a very calm and diplomatic way… Ok he probably doesn’t stand for the majority of people, but what happens when guys like that don’t even believe in peace anymore or if not peace co-existence. Unfortunately the one pretty much cancels the other one out.
PS: i like to congratulate you with your site/blog i 2 was practically drowned, when very young, and i am a graphic/web-design student.
