6 degrees

It turned out this week that one of my clients, and brother of an ex-work colleague from 6 years ago, is also the vocalist in a Cape Town-based new wave band. Another ex-colleague from 4 years ago designed their sexy website (which I'd linked to before in my weblob) and other awesome branding. A little googling revealed that ex-colleague #3, also from 4 years ago, is the guitarist.And while doing the rounds through my blogroll earlier this week, I stumbled on Seth's 2oceansvibe.com blog post about the band, in which he also included a link to download one of the tracks off their forthcoming debut album. As it would happen, Seth is a mate of ex-colleague #3.

The Dirty Skirts consists of Jeremy de Tolly on vocals and guitar (a.k.a. Jess), David Moffatt on guitar (a.k.a. Sumo), Ryan Johnson on Bass (a.k.a. Kriss) and an exuberant beat box with no name.

The album launch will be taking place at club Vegas, 98 Long Street on Wednesday the 15th of June from 8pm. A live performance will take place at approximately 9:30pm, following which various pioneering DJ's have been invited to play.
