No display
My notebook of 2 years decided yesterday, without any prior warnings, that it's display was working too well. So it threw in some random ascii characters and blocks of cyan & magenta on startup, and in Windows it... well, hard to explain. It's unusable. Needless to say, I'm now feeling quite lost without my address book, calendar, RSS feeds and the familiarity of my customized setup.
There's something to be said for web applications like Backpackit in times like these. Although I've never owned a Hotmail or Gmail account simply because I don't feel comfortable with another party hosting my personal data. There are probably some OS solutions available.. any ideas?
These things always seem to happen at the worst of times - I'm extremely busy this month, as indicated by my lack of regular blog updates. It's like when you call someone over to your machine to look at something, and when they get there then the application freezes or the web connections starts to lag horribly, and you feel like an embaressed, incompetent turd.
I picked up tickets to the sold out Green Day gig, on this day next month. Fellow Americans Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday and Canadian outfit Simple Plan are supporting...phwoaaa!! Couldn't ask for a better lineup. (talking of music, Coxy: did you drop the baton? I never received it... ;)
UPDATE: Useless fact: I just noticed I've only blogged on Thursdays this month. Expect another update on the 26th.

Dude, I’m new to this music baton game! Slippy fingers
Pity. One should start using those online remote backup solutions to store critical data as well. Murphy has a bad habit of showing himself in the worst moments.
No, that’s my point – I don’t want to store critical data online. I have an external hard drive which I can protect however I want for offline backups.
Coxy: heh!
SHITE Dude, How the hell do you expect to play TETRINET now?!!!?
be careful of the mosh-pit when at the green day concert, it’s insane (and a good deal of fun!)… oh and the band members spit into the crowd, it’s some ‘punk’ thing.
Day, I have this strange Murphy thing that ALWAYS happens to me at work. If ever you have a query or are stuck somehow, call your immediate superior over to your computer and the bug will automatically fix or the problem disappear, leaving you looking like a bumbling idiot who creates drama where none exists.
LOL – Tis is true, although, I’m lucky (maybe not so lucky) to be the one they call over all the time. I hate those Whiney Bastards!!! Have they not got something better to do.
I mean really people, I HAVE BLOGS TO READ!!!!
Vaughan you read too much stuff online? Information overload? :P
I’ll be that stalker knows exactly how much as well, heh Vorn…
fooking typo:
be = bet
Hmm, *thinking out loud*… I should allow for secure comment editing sometime in the future.
MWhahahahahaha
I knew I shouldn’t have written that…
I was going to pipe up that it’s Thurssday, but someone beat me to it :(
I’ve come here after being alerted by an Outlook Calendar event I specially set, and it’s all disappointment…
OK, that was just a joke, before I get added to the looking-quite-comprehensive-lately stalker list. Seriously. Hehe.
Geez, Dame, it’s Thursday again and STILL no update.
You’re just trying to go against the grainn now, aren’t you? You’re DYING to blog, you’re just stopping yourself now!
Maybe next week? Notebook should be due back from ACER any day…
My lack of notebook hasn’t stopped me at all – just nothing to say atm I guess. Or maybe I’m holding back and in a month I’ll post the fattest blog post the world has ever seen. I wonder if there’s a Guinness World Record for that.
You have your own domain? You could even setup Apache to protect the files.

Crud! – that’s just Murphy’s law dude! I think we’ve all been there at one stage or another. and no it’s not the evil of microsoft… it happens with Mac users too!
ah! Green Day – the radio stations over here has played “boulavard of broken dreams” to death… it was one of my fav, but i’m so sick of it now. It’s like TITANIC, no matter which station you tune into – same freakin playlist.
