Kit-Kat with orange juice

Last week I resigned from my job of 7 months. It's never an easy decision but I'm feeling confident it was the right thing to do. After taking on a number of freelance projects over the past couple of months I eventually found myself swamped, working through the early hours on week nights and over entire weekends. Working full-time and freelancing simultaneously is like following a Kit-Kat with orange juice. So as much as I like orange juice, I've decided to skip it for a while and 'Have a break' before reinventing my daily routine, or hopefully a lack thereof. Starting with a holiday! I fly back to Cape Town next Thursday.

Before I arrived in England, one of my Visa requirements was to compile an itinerary. I haven't completed a fourth of the items on that list, not that I intended to but they are admittedly things I should do and see while I'm here. And now thinking about it, I have over 10 things I want to do during my month back home. For starters, I'll be spending time with my folks and crazy dogs at their new house in Stilbaai, J&M at their flat in Kenilworth, and getting down with the mother city crew for momentous riots. We're going bigger than Sedna's orbit!

Then there are birthdays: Claire's 21st and Gaby's xxth ;). Rocking bands, camp fires, butternut soup and bathing in mountain rivers at Splashy Fen 2004, over the Easter weekend. And lastly flying Kulula-style up to Joeys for my Gran's phenomenal 90th birthday - which I anticipate will be a huge Nicol family gathering - before returning to summer in London. In between and weather dependent, I hope to make the most of what I've come to realise have taken for granted for the past few years living in the Cape: hike up Table Mountain, sundowners on Clifton 4th, a drive around the re-opened scenic Chapman's Peak, a visit to my parrot at the World of Birds in Hout Bay, student nights in Stellies.... and whatever else happens to happen.

Yebo!

Today is a beautiful day ok... and today, everything's going my way

LOL. “Kulula style” yeah that’s a bit iffy if you ask me … oh they also launched a new low-cost airline called “1Time”, you should see the ads – LMFHO!

…and the new Domestic terminal at JIA is stunning!

Yo dude, like the new “yello” header; nice to see some MTN creeping in there. (Y) :)

Otherwise, very cool post. Been wondering the same thing about my job lately. Spent about 4 hours tonight seriously thinking about what I’m going to do – and I think I have a decision. I could use a break too – there’s something about the Internet industry which just saps everything out of you.

Looking forward to seeing you in the flesh again; MSN’s been a nice lifeline for the last 8 months or so, but it’ll be good to see you face to face and share some laughter/drinks. Can’t believe it’s next week already, wait, what month are we in… damnnn.

Don’t know when you had the time to sit down and plan your holiday activities. Well done for being able to do that, damn I wish I had that ability!

Crazy dogs indeed! Up in Stilbaai for the long w’end and just spent the last hour down at the beach with the pups… Gip chasing her ball down the sand and Bovey chewing on sea snails. I keep telling them that “damien’s coming soon” and Gip goes balistic. Looking forward to having you home soon boet! Love sissie.

Picture how big I’m grinning right now. ;)
“Gip”? What? Has all that tail pulling taught her how to run backwards?!

how bizarre… so I’m poking around the internet looking for Gaby’s website, and I bump into this… complete with a post from Justine (hey there! it’s been what… seven years?). Anyways dude, fantastic site (both this and digicam.co.za, it seems we have similar interests). It’s been a really strange week for this sort of thing, as I’ve recently bumped into Ryan Pinnick, who’s informed me that Lynne van der Merwe has also just arrived in town… all this while having a drink with Matthew Scott and a guy who lives with David Tuppen… it really does look like MHS is invading LDN.

Hey Devan, funny that – seems like Acton is more of a saffer hangout than Southfields… or MHS hangout at least. I was at the infamous Redback one w/e and bumped into two people from my matric class, not together. What are the odds… nice site too, btw – some stunning photography :)

Oh no… don’t tell me you know Laura too… the internet is a worryingly small place. Somehow I managed to survive four years in London without ever living in a “Sowef Effriken” area… But I have ended up working with Wendy Franklin’s boyfriend. More MHS wierdness to follow… I’m sure.
