The online music store bandwagon
Talk of music is doing the rounds a heck of a lot more these days, what with the huge growth in the portable mp3 player market and everyone* jumping on the online music store bandwagon. (For an interesting read: State of the art: A medium reborn).Small tangenty blog-branch™ : while compiling that list of links above, I stumbled on this Sony cock-up. The link to their Music Store was http://downloads.sonymusic.com/music/application/commercewf, which, because I hate long URIs, decided to shorten to http://downloads.sonymusic.com. If you visit my shortened link, you end up at a page reading:
This page left intentionally blank

It becomes more interesting when you view the source of this page. Yes, Sony - poorly constructed URIs are potentially big security holes. Anyway, plenty of rainy days here to bring out the |337 h4x0r in me. :P
Before I came over to the UK I decided to create my own compilation CD, inspired by Gill's awesome creatives for freshlyground. Sleeve, cover art, liner notes - the whole lot. It started off with a short list of my all-time favourites, but quickly grew into 70-something tracks. Hello!!!@$^&..., compilation DVD.
But like most of the things I start, they end up gathering defrag-dust™ in some neglected folder on my notebook. So for now I've added the very incomplete list (I'm missing some songs that I haven't ripped off my ORIGINAL CDs yet) to my words section and if you have any comments you can add them to this post.
Currently listening to:

The Strokes - Room On Fire
Anything by the Bond girls (hellooo Nurse)
What's the deal with Damien Rice? As much as I've tried, partly because I share his name (well do you know of any other Damien celebs? It's all very new to me...), and despite all the glowing reviews, I just can't listen to his music. Depressingly disturbing. If I had to pick a track off the jukebox though, it would be 'Cannonball'...
But all that said and done, who knew that Fight Club was really a movie about Calvin and Hobbes?

OMG, I just had a bit of a Stifler moment!! Dammnnnn.
When I’ve got a moment, I’ll go through your list and my ORIGINAL CDs and see if I have anything that you’re missing.
What’s this “Currently Listening” nonsense. That’s not a literal list or it would’ve included the unreleased Silverchair & Nirvana, Rob Zombie Best Of and Marilyn Manson Discography I interspersed in between damien’s mostly lacking list ;)
hey boetie,
just a quickie – check out entry no 59. were the primitive radiogods really standing outside of a broken phoneBOOT? i can just picture the music video – a couple of okes standing around and staring at a scruffed up old shoe! bwaahhaahhaahhaaaa.

oops… a bit mouse clicky happy :)
hey sissie,
Thanks for the QA, have fixed the typo – the full title is “Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth With Money In My Hand”, the rest got cut off between CDs and limited filename lengths somewhere. And your first site comment!
Here’s a suggestion for a new band you should enjoy.
Try downloading a few tracks off the new Death Cab for Cutie album called Transatlanticism.
