Earth from the Air

Yesterday I spent what could have been over an hour at the awesome Earth from the Air outdoor photographic exhibition in the gardens of the Natural History Museum in South Kensington.

a spectacular presentation of large-scale photographs of astonishing natural landscapes. Created by world-famous photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand, every stunning aerial photograph tells a story about our changing planet. Seen together, they are an outstanding visual testimony to the world we live in today. A world with a growing population, shrinking biodiversity, polluted lands and oceans, a changing climate and a shortage of drinking water. A world, nevertheless, of beauty and of wonder.

I plan to revisit before the exhibition ends next year, to purchase large print(s) of my favourites: Dromedary caravans, Boat run aground in Namibia, Abandoned city of Pripiat and Village on stilts in Philippines. Truly inspiring. And no offence Gert, but the Danish really have no idea when it comes to housing development.

This took place after we'd visited the Science Museum for a second time (we missed parts of it the first time), and spent a quick half hour (getting lost most of the time) in the Natural History Museum before they closed. Lots of photos at digicam.coza.

Otherwise, the Hammersmith Lodge as it turns out has it's ups and downs. The room has a very distinct (read: unpleasant) smell, the shower required some MacGyver handywork to get it working as intended, the TV (which shouldn't be in the room anyway) has near no reception, and our beds slope to the left. I shouldn't be complaining though, it is quite funny after all. The continental breakfast is the best part - watered down coffee and strawberry jam on toast, served by a guy who can't speak English. He even gave me that classic "I can't speak English" line.

Job hunt is going well so far, will have more news by tomorrow.

Living here the past two weeks, and eating lots of takeaway (don't stress mom, I did have a microwave spaghetti the other night - lol) has left me with this to report: KFC is way better - their Zingers are actually hot and their food is more fresh. Burger King is overrated. MacDonalds don't serve junior chicken burgers, don't supersize, and their menu is overall much smaller, or it seems like it anyway. Nandos are overpriced. Subway on the other hand, have been my number 1 choice.

And everywhere, packets are free.
