Google delist perverted site

From The Register: Google pulls sick site, following Chester protests

Google has removed a perverted Web site from its search listings following a public outcry from people in Chester, England. There was outrage when it was discovered that anyone innocently tapping in "Chester Guide" into the Google search engine was met with a site dedicated to picking up small girls.

This is the first I have heard of Google delisting a website, and it couldn't have been an easy decision because as a precedent they could find themselves inundated with similar requests. They first replied to the Chester protesters saying that there was "nothing that Google can do to remove the offending content without the cooperation of the site administrator". They also pointed out that they are a "provider of information, not a mediator", but later agreed to the campaign and pulled the site.

FYI, the delisted site is still accessible through other search engines.
