Browsing brain dump
I'm not an insomniac, nor would I ever say I sleep well either, but there is something about Sunday nights that I can't get to sleep before 2am. It always triggers a memory from primary school when we were told that Albert Einstein rarely slept more than 4 hours a day - quite a comforting thought.
So anyway, here I slouch, torturing myself, waiting for the last track of Feeder's "Comfort In Sound" album to download. Prepare yourself for my longest post ever. There are currently 9 browser windows active in my taskbar:
1. addnews.php - the page on which I am adding this post. Restricted access. Ha!
2. The Guardian | The duck of the draw
And the winner is... a duck. A Scary Duck to be precise: Alistair Coleman's witty, irreverent blog has beaten 300 rivals to take the title of Best British Blog 2002 and claim the prize of £1,000.
He may keep you amused for hours, but my little quacker kicks scary duck's ass any day.
3. iMakeContent - one of the highly commended sites in the aforementioned competition. Among all the politically-related blabber, I'd expect there must be something of interest.
4. LinkMachineGo - a runner up. Keeps me occupied for a scroll or two; way too much quoted content. Spawn two new windows from this page:
4.1. kottke.org - the personal site of Jason Kottke, who complains about getting too much e-mail. I've visited here before, more than once. Skipping past his daily routine rap, I find myself viewing:
4.1.1 The Checker-shadow Illusion - by Edward H. Adelson. The most fascinating illusion I have ever seen.
4.2. upsideclown - starts off with another daily *yawn* routine.
I like to wake early. My yogi (Buddhist teacher) tells me that the morning is when the gates of the body and the gates of the soul are open as one.
As coincidence would have it, this page has an illusion as a background.
5. Feeder UK - This is not the website for UK rock band Feeder.
This site recognizes that many people want to grow fatter and fatter. That's OK, we agree with you and offer support. You will find pictures of very fat Feedees who have deliberately fattened themselves, often with the help and encouragement of a Feeder. Ideally the Feedee wants to be fattened until they become so obese they are barely mobile and the Feeder is going to see to it that they get all the help and food and love they need.
Charming.
6. Feederweb - Feeder are Grant Nicholas and Taka Hirose. Their new single "Come Back Around" is due to be released today. According to CD-WOW.net, the album release date is Monday 21 October. Bet you didn't know that they filmed the video for "Seven Days In The Sun" in South Africa?
You blow my mind.
